Application Form Instructions

Please note, the application period for the Class of 2022 has been closed. We will be accepting applications for the Class of 2023 later in the year. However, please see below as a guide for what the application process will entail. Once the application period for 2023 is open again, the necessary application forms will be re-added for submission.

A single application is to be submitted by each team in the form of a PDF document emailed to admin@ahsnormandyinstitute.com OR using the form below. If applicants email in a PDF form, please send the consent forms (which will be provided during the application period) below as part of the application.
The application, made using the table below, should include:
  1. Contact information for both the (teacher and student) members of the team;
  2. Please briefly explain why you are interested in this Institute as well as tell us a little bit about yourselves. Both the teacher and student should each write a brief statement;
  3. Please provide the teacher's resume;
  4. Please include a letter from the teacher's supervisor confirming employment as well as a recommendation for the Institute;
  5. Please briefly tell us why your student was chosen;
  6. Please confirm that both team members have read and accepted the terms and conditions of the Institute as described below via consent forms provided;
  7. Please confirm that a parent or legal guardian of the student has read accepted the terms and conditions of the Institute as described below via consent forms provided, as well as provided their name, address, email, and phone number;

Please note, students and teachers who do not currently have passports may still apply to the Institute. However, if selected, a passport will be necessary to go to France and each member must obtain one.

In accordance with George Washington University policy, all accepted Institute members must be fully vaccinated (base + booster) by the time of their arrival in Washington DC. Before the trip, you will be asked to provide documentation of your vaccination. Please consult the George Washington University's Covid-19 safety policy for more information. If you are not currently vaccinated, you may still apply. However, if accepted, you will need to take steps to be in accordance with stated safety procedures. You must also be in accordance with requirements put in place by both the French and American governments by the time of the trip. To reiterate, if you are accepted, you must be fully vaccinated (base + booster) by the time you arrive in DC in June.

In addition to the steps above, there are three forms (one for students, one for teachers, and one for parental guardians) that confirm that each have reviewed the rules, expectations, and conditions that are part of the Institute. In a PDF application, all three of these forms are required. In a website-submitted application, these terms and conditions are included as check-boxes, so the forms are not required.
